Razavi University of Islamic Sciences

Razavi University of Islamic Sciences was founded by Astan Quds Razavi in the vicinity of the Illuminated Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.), and to train jurisconsults, Islamologists, researchers and professors in different fields of Islamic sciences, including law, history and jurisprudence, as well as training efficient human resources for scientific and educational centers of the country.

Hawzah News Agency-Razavi University of Islamic Sciences was established with the efforts and foresight of the late Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi in 1984.

 

Article of association of the university which is located in the vicinity of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (A.S.), was approved in 1995 by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, and now the university with an emphasis on seminary origins, and granting official certificate of the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology continues to operate.

 

 

 

Foundation Objectives of Razavi University of Islamic Sciences

The university aimed at training jurisconsults, Islamologists, researchers and professors in different fields of Islamic sciences, training lawyers, judges and legal experts, training religious scholars and Islamic missionaries with the goal of spreading Islamic culture and teachings of the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.), inside and abroad and training efficient human resources for scientific and educational centers of the country.

 

 

 

University Programs and Fields of Study

Razavi University of Islamic Sciences has three undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs that each one has currently ten, ten and six fields of study respectively. Undergraduate fields include “Qur'anic sciences and tradition, Islamic philosophy and Kalam, law, tradition sciences, history of culture and civilization of Islamic nations, Islam history, Persian language and literature, Arabic language and literature, economics and jurisprudence and Islamic law principles”, graduate degree also includes courses on “Qur'anic sciences and tradition, Haddi sciences, Islamic philosophy and Kalam, private law, criminal law and criminology, international law, Persian language and literature, Arabic language and literature, history and civilization of the Islamic nations, jurisprudence and principles of Islamic law” and PhD program, includes courses on “Qur'anic sciences and tradition, criminal jurisprudence, Islamic philosophy and Kalam, private law, criminal law and criminology and international law”.

 

It is worth mentioning that attempt to expand the academic fields of study, up to forty-eight fields, is in its final stages.

 

 

 

Razavi University of Islamic Sciences Departments

The university departments include the departments of Qur'anic sciences and tradition, jurisprudence and principles, Islamic philosophy and Kalam, law, history, general and basic courses, Arabic language and literature, as well as English language.

 

 

 

A University for Different Nations

Given the importance of the promotion of the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.) culture and teachings abroad, Razavi University of Islamic Sciences, from the early beginning, has had a special focus on non-Iranian students, and so far, groups from China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Syria etc., have studied at the university.

 

Non-Iranian graduates, particularly Chinese graduates, after graduation, have shown a good brilliance and have offered a successful experience, including assistance to set up a channel of "Voice of China" to propagate Islam.

 

Many of them, after graduation, have returned to their home countries to promote the illuminated religion of Islam and have become the source of many blessings.

 

 

 

University Professors

Razavi University of Islamic Sciences, from the beginning of its establishment, in order to achieve the outlined objectives in its Article of association, has been using the prominent seminary and university professors, in education and research areas, and according to the need of seminary schools and universities to professors, familiar with the and academic and seminary sciences, has paid special attention to the training of accomplished professors and lecturers.

 

These professors, in addition to expertise in a specialized academic field, are familiar with seminary sciences at the level of Kharej (highest seminary education level), as well as at least one foreign language. The professors currently at this University, as well as other universities and seminary schools across the country, are working and teaching. Some professors are university graduates that as faculty member or lecturer are teaching in the university.

 

 

 

University Journals

These journals which are released in a specialized manner include scientific-research Quranic teachings journal, scientific-research criminal law teachings journal, scientific-research civil jurisprudence teachings journal, and scientific-research Islamic philosophy teachings journals, and also the Journal of the Seminary Thought (Islamic social studies).

 

It should be noted that in the scientific-research journals of the University, 432 papers have been published so far, from which 80 belonged to professors and students of the Razavi Islamic University that have been presented at national and international conferences.

 

 

 

 

University Honors

The university is recognized by Iranian Ministry of Science as one of the top seven universities in 2012.

 

Also, 39 cases of the charters and research products of the university in national and provincial festivals achieved 60 ranks, from which causality in criminal law, economic ethics from Quran and tradition perspectives, pathology of tradition comprehension, Imam jurisconsults and areas of Wilayat Faqih, and trend recognition of jurisprudence interpretations could be mentioned, as well as several top rankings in country Olympiads of “theology and Islamic teachings” and “law” by students of the university from 2012 up to present, and achievement of scientific-promotional degree for “Razavi Islamic Studies” publication.

 

It should be mentioned that within the academic year 2013-2014, according to the university's development objectives and the scope of the university activities, the range and variety of educational activities has increased, and six new fields at different levels, have been added to the cover disciplines.

"Jurisprudence and principles of Islamic law" and "economy" fields in the undergraduate program, "Persian literature" and "Arabic Language and literature" fields at the graduate level, "criminal jurisprudence" and "Islamic international law", have been added to the Ph.D. fields of the university.

 

Also this year, 360 students at both undergraduate and graduate programs have been placed in the university's admission list.
